ChatGPT Setup Guide
This guide walks you through setting up Carbon Arc's MCP Server with ChatGPT (OpenAI's AI assistant).

Requirements
- A ChatGPT account
- A Carbon Arc platform account
Setup Instructions
Step 1: Open ChatGPT Settings
Go to Settings → Apps in your ChatGPT application.
Optional
Turn on Developer Mode for additional features.
Step 2: Create a New App
Click the Create app button.
Step 3: Configure Core Tools Connector
Fill out the New App form with the following details:

Click Create to save.
Step 4: Add Research Tools Connector (Optional)
To access Research tools (Entity Research, Forecast, Acquire, Retain, Target, Upsell), create a second app:

Step 5: Sign In at Carbon Arc
When prompted, sign in with your Carbon Arc credentials to authenticate.
Step 6: Begin Prompting
Open a new chat in Developer mode. Click the + button and select Carbon Arc MCP from the menu.
Start asking questions:
"What was Walmart's card spend in Q1 2024?"
Tips for ChatGPT
- Make sure to select the Carbon Arc MCP tool using the + menu before prompting
- If ChatGPT doesn't use the MCP tools, try adding "use mcp tools" to your prompt
- All responses include structured data that ChatGPT can use for follow-up questions
- You can ask ChatGPT to explain or visualize the data it retrieves
